Griot Music in 2012

2012 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us at Griot Music.

Starting with ECLECTIC on January 21 featuring Tanya Stephens, Tessanne Chin and Dubtonic Kru at the Courtleigh Auditorium. It promises to be an exciting and fun night with an after party featuring DJ Smoke from Rennaissance and ZJ Electra from ZIP FM.

The Jamaica Global Battle of the Bands in 2012 will be held at the Courtleigh Auditorium on December 8, 2012 and we will be adding two more events to our calendar that will feature the top six bands.

Jakoostik will be going on tour in New York in February 2012 and there are negotiations underway for a Japan tour in may.

Jazz for Hope 2012 is scheduled for July 7, 2012 and we are looking forward to recording another album after the successul response to Jazz for Hope 2011.

So look forward to more shows, better concerts, bigger events and more recordings.

With the success of Jakoostik we are looking forward to more opportunities to develop and spread the love of caribbean music.

We are so proud of Dubtonic Kru who has done so well in 2011. They are great ambassadors of Jamaica and Jamaican music.

Let us see what 2012 has in store. All the best for the New Year.

ECLECTIC - Tanya Stephens/Tessanne

 ECLECTIC 2011

Saturday January 21, the Courtleigh Auditorium will be the place to be with live hit music from Tanya Stephens, Tessanne chin and Dubtonic Kru after party with selectors ZJ Electra and DJ Smoke from Rennaissance. Gates open at 7pm and if you come early you will enjoy the poetry of Cherry Natural, Randy McLaren, Najuequa Barnes, Ganja, Samuel Gordon and Simone C. Simpson.

ECLECTIC is the brainchild of Se
retse Small, CEO of Griot Music, having over thirty years of experience in producing and promoting live music realised that his audience wanted more diversity in their entertainment offering. The aim is to have an event that combines several art forms but at its heart is a party.
The first ECLECTIC was produced at Suzie’s bakery in 2010 and was held in the parking lot featuring live music, art and poetry. It rained but with talents like Nomadz, Sezi, Ellan Neil and Crimson Heart Replica the ECLECTIC spirit was not daunted.

ZIP FM returns as the primary media partner and the club section of the event is expanded with inclusion of two selectors DJ Smoke and ZJ Electra.
The night will begin with poetry alternating with a performance by the 2011 GBOBJA winner and Dubtonic Kru leading to Tessanne Chin and Tanya Stephens. The audience having their fill of live music will go on to enjoy DJ Smoke and ZJ Electra till the morning.

Tickets are available at Max Brown in Sovereign, Base Kingston in Manor Park, Music Mart in Twin Gates plaza and Rituals Coffee House in the Village Plaza.

Presold $2,000 and $3,000 at the gate
