Message from CEO, Seretse Small
In 1995 I attended the summer program at Berklee and came away with the idea that Music Publishing was the heart of the music industry and that I should create a company that would focus on creative music publishing.
I created Griot Music Limited to be a publisher that would discover talent and nurture it in Jamaica with a view to taking product to the international marketplace. Over the years the strategy has evolved to be based on some basic premises:
- Listen to everything
- Be patient in the rewrite
- Promote through live performance
- Be true to the artist and the audience
Over time and through many ups and downs we have developed a suite of services and businesses most having their own website.

We have three main events throughout the year:
Jazz for Hope - Fundraiser for Hope United Church
Global Battle of the Bands - International Talent search
Eclectic - Party with live music, poetry, food, drink, DJ, film
Our objective is to improve the quality of life of first our owners, then Jamaica and the Caribbean through music publishing. We are looking for:
- Disciplined songwriters with a story to tell
- Engineers who love live music and an ear for multiple genres
- Administrative personnel with expertise in Quickbooks and an ability to do routine office procedures
- Performers who like to work hard on their set lists and enjoy the challenge of performing long sets in front of audiences of any size.
